Hello dear readers, I hope you guys are doing great and that you are having an amazing beginning of 2019. I truly wish you happiness, growth, and abundance during this year.
I am excited about this new article for «The Talk» because first of all, it is my first article of 2019. Second of all, this article will be more educative and will focus on how to achieve the best Black & White interior design in your homes as you guys requested. As I want you to have a better understanding of the guidelines you should follow while having a wide range of inspirations for your own interiors. I decided to illustrate the article not only through one project but through multiples projects to give you more ideas.
As we all know, black and white is the perfect combination to achieve a bold contrast, whether it’s in fashion, photography, art or interior design. The use of black and white helps create a stunning and dramatic statement.
There is plenty of advantages by combining those two simple colors to maximize your decor.
In interior design, the main goal is to evoke emotion when one enters a room. The use of colors is the main components to achieve this goal. In design, the white color is an important color to creates a state of balance, cleanliness, and inner peace. While black is the color of luxury and sophistication. When mixed together, they create a great elegance in your home.
Nevertheless, there are some rules you should follow to achieve your dream.
1- Use the color black as a focal point:
Every room needs a focal point in order to tie the design together, and black is the best color to create this focal point. Whether you use it on the floor, the walls, decor pieces (vase, illustrations, etc), accessories, light fixtures, or pieces of furniture. I guarantee you, black will serve as an outline that sparks up your interior, therefore the room will be more aesthetically pleasing to eyes.
2- Privilege white colored walls:
In order to add light to the room and to make it appear larger, white walls are an easy way to start. Walls painted pure white or ivory white serve as a perfect background for framed photographs, and other artwork. I’ll advise you to choose dark wood or black painted frames.
3- Exclusively use black and white photographs on your white walls:
Nothing looks more aesthetic than a black and white photograph. It is a simple and sophisticated way to decode your walls. I would also advise you to create a montage of different photographs with different frame shapes in order to create movement in the room.
4- Add a third tone to the room to maximize the bi-color statement:
By adding other colors through some complementary elements such as candles, plants, decorative pillows, or any wooden piece. The black and white will be highlighted distinctively. In my opinion, neutral tones match up perfectly with black and white, it helps boots the elegant aspect of the interior.
5- Mix and match textures:
No one can ever go wrong with adding textures to an interior since it adds sensory values to the design. By matching up different textures such as leather, feathers, and others, the beauty of the black and white will rise.
6- Nailed the kitchen
As said before, black is the perfect way to create a focal point in the room. Therefore I will advise you to keep the overall look of the kitchen white with stainless steel appliances. And add splashes of black into the room, through window sill, kitchen decoration, lighting, and chairs. Yes, chairs! there is something about black chairs around a white table that simply elevate the interior to a space of sophistication.
7- Nailed the bathroom
The ideas are the same as in the kitchen, you will just have to add an accent wall in order to contrast with the overall monochromatic white of the room ( If you want to learn more about accent wall, here is a link of one of my article on the subject https://www.aestheticmuse.com/forum/the-talk/how-to-maximize-small-living-spaces)
That's it guys, I hope you enjoyed this article and that I helped you in your quest of the perfect Black & White interior. Until next week ♡
